Blue Mountain Land Trust & Umatilla National Forest present free event to celebrate the biodiversity in Walla Walla Valley
WALLA WALLA, WA — Kick off the summer season at BioBlitz 2023 on Saturday, June 3rd from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Enjoy the day outside at Rooks Park and learn more about the biodiversity thriving in the Walla Walla Valley.
BioBlitz is a chance for the community to come together and celebrate the biodiversity that exists in the Walla Walla Valley. This fun event engages families with science activities to encourage participants to learn about the ecosystems, waters, and wildlife of the Blue Mountain region. By participating in BioBlitz, you’ll help our community learn more about the number and types of species that call this special place home.
During the day, partners will share fun science-based activities and games, including catching and observing macroinvertebrates, viewing live amphibians and reptiles, examining bees and insects, and so much more! Local volunteers will lead nature walks to help families observe and identify different species of plants, bugs, and birds.
BioBlitz is meant for everyone! No science background is needed. Drop in at Rooks Park in Walla Walla, WA, between 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 3rd. Check in with our team at the main park shelter to register and receive your activity map. The event is FREE and open to the public. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
Throughout the year Blue Mountain Land Trust, in collaboration with partner organizations, offers youth education programs featuring a variety of nature-inspired topics, workshops, and events.
“Connecting with the outdoors is a great way to form a lifelong appreciation for this special place we call home. We’re excited to offer unique opportunities for kids and families to learn outside together, build memories, and connect with a great community,” said BMLT Communications & Marketing Director Alyssa Martinez Neumann.
