Volunteer: Walla Walla River Riparian Project with the WWCD | October


Trip Overview

Join our partners at the Walla Walla Conservation District (WWCD) for a series of work parties on the Walla Walla River above Last Chance Road. The group of volunteers will plant riparian trees and upland plants among an existing cottonwood gallery. Volunteer for a few hours or the entire day.

Volunteer work to accomplish:

  • Minor site prepration

  • Ground clearing & raking

  • Pruning and pulling weeds

  • Planting riparian and upland plants

  • General cleanup

What it takes to do this work party

  • No experience is necessary—bring a great attitude for working with a team.

  • Expect to be physically active at your own pace for up to 6 hours on uneven terrain.

  • Recommended for ages 14 and older; participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult with a signed parental consent form.


What to bring:

  • Water bottle

  • Warm clothing for wet/cold weather

  • Hat & sun protection

  • Lunch/snacks

What to wear:

  • Boots – no sneakers or sandals

  • Long pants and long-sleeved shirt

  • Work gloves and eye protection (glasses, sunglasses)

  • Ticks can be present: bring DEET for self, Permethrin for clothes
