Join us on an excursion into the Blue Mountains to learn about the plants and fungi you can eat from the forest floor.
Jeff Duke, a local firefighter with the Umatilla National Forest and mushroom aficionado, will take us o the beaten path and will discuss the environments where various mushrooms grow, how to identify, pick, store and prepare them, and how NOT to be fooled by poisonous mushrooms.
Jeff will also point out and describe other forest edible plants including huckleberries and thimbleberry. Bring a bucket or rucksack to throw a few mushrooms in and enjoy a day hiking and exploring the Blue Mountains and its bounty!
