Due to active wildfires in Umatilla National Forest and other public lands, our upcoming Family Hike is cancelled. If you already registered for the event, our education staff will be in touch with you soon.
We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we navigate the changing landscape this summer. Please remember to recreate responsibly this fire season and check in regularly with state agencies on forest closures.
Join Chris Howard of the Blue Mountain Audubon Society on an adventure-filled hike into the Blue Mountains overlooking the magnificent views of the North Fork Umatilla Wilderness area.
As we explore the trail together, we will look for signs of wildlife, including pileated woodpeckers, migrating raptors like golden eagles, and animal tracks of black bears or wolves. At Nine Mile Ridge trail junction, we will descend into old-growth forest and stop for a picnic lunch among the trees. The pace will be gentle, with the idea of quiet observation of our beautiful wild environment.
