Explore the food chains and nutrient cycles of the critters, wild and not-so wild, on the working organic farm and surrounding wildness of Yellowhawk Creek. Help with pig chores and see how grass and grain converts to bacon. Dissect the pellets of rodent eating owls. Make and take home a worm bin to turn your own household leftovers into fertile compost. Hunt for nymphs and caddis larva in the creek and the predators that eat them. Harvest carrots for snack and potatoes to take home for dinner.
Participants should bring a sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen, sunhat, clothes for getting dirty and wet.
Two trained camp counselors with lead each session, with guest appearances from Welcome Table farmers. Limited to 15 kids.
