Volunteer: Pikes Peak Riparian Project with the WWCD | September 22 - 24


Trip Overview

Join our partners at the Walla Walla Conservation District (WWCD) for a series of riparian work parties at Pikes Peak. The group of volunteers will restore .5 mile of seasonal waterway that needs weed removal to prepare the site for planting in the month of October. Volunteer for a few hours or the entire day.

  • Friday, September 23rd

  • Saturday, September 24

Volunteer work to accomplish:

  • Brush and blackberry removal

  • Ground clearing & raking

  • Pruning and pulling weeds

  • General cleanup

What it takes to do this work party

  • No experience is necessary—bring a great attitude for working with a team.

  • Expect to be physically active at your own pace for up to 6 hours on uneven terrain.

  • Recommended for ages 14 and older; participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult with a signed parental consent form.


What to bring:

  • Water bottle

  • Warm clothing for wet/cold weather

  • Hat & sun protection

  • Lunch/snacks

What to wear:

  • Boots – no sneakers or sandals

  • Long pants and long-sleeved shirt

  • Work gloves and eye protection (glasses, sunglasses)

  • Ticks can be present: bring DEET for self, Permethrin for clothes
