Chris Howard of the Blue Mountain Audubon Society will be leading an adventure-filled hike into the Blue Mountains.
This hike will take place in the Wenaha-Tucannon Wilderness, which is part of the Umatilla National Forest. You will be led on an interactive hike to Oregon Butte, the highest point in the Northern Blue Mountains. You will see wildlife, wildflowers, birds, and be rewarded with sweeping views of the terrain from Oregon Butte Lookout, where we will enjoy lunch. A highlight of the trip will be to hear Julie, the lookout staffer, share the rewards and challenges of her job as a Forest Service Lookout Observer.
This is a wonderful opportunity for those in the community who are keen to adventure into the wilderness and learn about the beauty of the terrain, the trails in the Blues, and partake in a shared experience with other local outdoor enthusiasts.
Transportation provided for participants. For more information about this event, please contact Alexandra James at alex@bmlt.org or 509-525-3136.
