Board a bus that will take you on a journey through Walla Walla’s past. Our journey will start at the St. Rose Cemetery at the Frenchtown Historic Site. Working our way from west to east, we’ll also stop at the Poor Farm Cemetery and the McCool Catholic Cemetery, after which we’ll have an extensive tour of Mountain View Cemetery, as well as a brief introduction to the Stubblefield and Lyons Creek Cemeteries. Each cemetery is unique and has a fascinating story to tell extending beyond their gravestones.
Our guides for this fascinating journey are Dan Clark and Susan Monahan. Dan serves as a co-founder of both Walla Walla 2020 and Walla Walla Historic Cemeteries. Susan Monahan also serves as a co-founder of Walla Walla Historic Cemeteries and is an active historian with the Kirkman House Museum. Along the tour, we will stop to enjoy a lunchtime picnic during our visit at Mountain View Cemetery. Guests are asked to bring their own sack lunch, a picnic blanket and chair. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about some of Walla Walla’s historic treasures!
Transportation will be provided for participants. For more information about this event, please contact Alexandra James at alex@bmlt.org or 509-525-3136.
