Journey to Zumwalt Prairie

Zumwalt Prairie is one of the largest intact prairie ecosystems in eastern Oregon, with over 100 wildflower species and diverse native grasses. The 33,000-acre prairie has the highest known concentrations of breeding raptors in North America and is home to various songbirds. An abundance of wildlife roams the region.

Join botanist Emil Doyle and local geologist and photographer Bill Rodgers for about a 2-mile hike as they share their diverse knowledge of the area. The group will pause for lunch and learn about the unique geological story of Zumwalt Prairie.

The group will meet in Enterprise at 10:00 a.m. Please arrange to leave Walla Walla no later than 7:30 a.m. Additional event details will be sent after registration. Please ensure vehicles are equipped to travel on 10 miles of gravel road. Pack a lunch and bring plenty of water.

We suggest making a day out of your trip and will provide a few of our favorite places to visit in the area.

Cost: $55 per person for BMLT members, $65 per person for non-members. Registration is now closed for this event.
