Explore life at its most beautiful through an investigation of blooms, propagation, and pollinators. Many flowers are edible- we’ll pick snacks of pea blossoms, mustard flowers, squash, nasturtiums; we’ll fry up squash blossoms stuffed with local goat cheese. Many flowers provide habitat and food for insects of all classes and we will catch and identify many beneficial specimens. Flowers produce seed and we will learn about the plant life cycle stages present on the farm. And of course, we will harvest cut flowers and make beautiful bouquets, garlands, and wreaths to sell and take home!
Participants should bring a sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen sunhat, clothes for getting dirty and wet. Every camper will get a special Nature Kids on the Farm t-shirt.
Two trained camp counselors will lead each session, with guest appearances from Welcome Table farmers. Limited to 15 kids.
