Ever wanted to spot a Swainson’s hawk on the hunt? How about a rare ferruginous hawk in one of its few natural habitats in the state? See both of these and many more on a hike with Chris Howard, a veteran member of the Blue Mountain Audubon Society.
Juniper Dunes is a 7,100 acre Bureau of Land Management Wilderness area north of Pasco, accessible only through private land. This unique area is one of the most northern habitats for Juniper, and one of few places in Washington where they are widespread. Sandy dunes and juniper trees make for pristine habitat for birds of prey, mammals, and plenty of songbirds.
Come alone, with a partner, or best of all with the whole family on this excursion into the wilderness. Chris will take us to some of his favorite spots in the area. Van transportation will be provided from the Walla Walla Community College main parking lot.
This event is made possible by a generous grant from Eastern Washington Dermatology.
