WISHING YOU, YOUR FAMILY, AND OUR COMMUNITY HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Join us for a winter cross country ski social at Horseshoe Prairie. Together, we’ll learn the basics of starting, stopping, turning and gliding across the snow on classic cross-country skis. After our skill-building session, we’ll go out on the trail to practice our new skills and discover a great way to get outside in the winter!

This class is designed for beginners who are curious about one of winter’s most popular outdoor activities. Guided by an experienced instructor, you’ll learn how to venture across easy snow trails, how to use your poles, and how to get up after falling in deep snow.

This class is best suited for those aged 14 and older. Previous experience with cross country skiing is not needed. Transportation to Horseshoe Prairie provided.

Rental packages prepared by the Whitman Outdoor Program are available for an additional fee.

Registration closes on Monday, March 16, 2020.

What you’ll need:

  • Classic Cross-Country Skis with bindings

  • Cross-Country Ski Boots

  • Adjustable poles (required)

  • Layered clothing (think base layer, mid layer, outer layer, plus hat and gloves)

  • Daypack for your snacks and water bottle

  • Check out REI’s Cross-Country Skiing Checklist for more information.
